Job description:
We are seeking an organized, detail-oriented and experienced research technician, for Dr. Laura Soucek’s Models of Cancer Therapies Group at the Vall d’Hebron Institute of Oncology (VHIO) in Barcelona. We apply the MYC inhibitor Omomyc to the treatment of multiple cancer types, using in vitro and in vivo models.
Main responsibilities and roles
Lab Management, including:
• Preparing lab reagents and organising stocks
• Ordering lab supplies
• Database organisation
• Communication between VHIO Coordinación and lab members
Animal work:
• Mouse handling & welfare monitoring techniques
• Product administration through different routes (i.p, i.v., o.g., etc.)
• Necropsy and tissue processing
• Surgical techniques (such as subQ and orthotopic implantations)
• Manipulation of cytotoxic substances
Laboratory work:
• Sectioning paraffin embedded tissues
• Immunofluorescence and immunohistochemistry
• Mammalian cell culture
• Additional lab techniques as required (e.g. protein purification, cloning, qPCR etc.)
Job Requirements
• Title of higher technician (FPII/CFGS) or bachelor’s degree in the field of bioscience
• Accreditation training to handle experimental animals (functions b and c according to RD 53/2013 (2))
• Good computer skills for data collection and database organization
• Knowledge of English
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a collaborative team environment
• At least 2 years prior experience with:
o Immunofluorescence and immunohistochemistry of tissues
o Other lab techniques (such as mammalian cell culture, immunoblotting, ELISA etc.)
o Lab Management
o Mouse work (such as handling, treatment and surgical techniques)

📝Permanent contract.
