About the position
The Computational Immunogenomics Group, led by Dr. Francisco Martínez-Jiménez, is seeking a motivated and skilled laboratory technician to join our team. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research at the intersection of T-lymphocyte biology and immuno-oncology, with strong translational implications.
The successful candidate will play a key role in the processing of blood and tumour samples from multiple projects in the lab, applying a range of molecular biology techniques.

Key responsibilities
Sample management: Receive, process and store fresh clinical blood and tumour samples, including PBMC isolation by Ficoll gradient, cell freezing and thawing, and downstream experimental procedures, adapting daily activities to sample availability. In coordination with the Project Manager, make sure samples are properly labelled, tracked, stored long term and shipped in line with regulations.
Molecular biology and sequencing: Carry out DNA/RNA extraction, quantification and quality control. Support sequencing library preparation and help develop and implement new laboratory protocols.
Laboratory operations: Support the day-to-day running of the lab, including reagent preparation, stock monitoring and general organisation. Keep SOPs up to date and uphold biosafety standards.
Autonomy and teamwork: Work independently and proactively on assigned activities, with guidance from the Senior Research Technician/Lab Manager. Work closely with computational scientists and the Project Manager on an interdisciplinary research project.
Required qualifications
Education: Degree in Life Sciences (Biology, Biotechnology, Biomedical Sciences or a related field).
Laboratory experience: Proven hands-on wet-lab experience, including:
PBMC isolation using Ficoll gradients
DNA/RNA extraction and quantification
Sterile cell culture techniques
Sequencing library preparation (basic experience)
Laboratory logistics, including managing reagents, equipment and sample inventories
Working style: Highly organised, reliable and attentive to detail. Able to take initiative and troubleshoot independently in the lab.
Teamwork and communication: Comfortable working in a team led by a computational (non-wet-lab) supervisor. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work professionally with investigators, nurses and clinical staff across multiple sites.
Desirable qualifications
Experience with flow cytometry and FACS
Familiarity with clinical or translational sample handling
Experience implementing new experimental workflows

📝Two years contract, with possible extension subject to evaluation and funding availability
