Job description:
The Cancer Genome Engineering Group, led by Dr. Francisco Barriga, is seeking a motivated and skilled Bioinformatics Scientist with genomic and transcriptomic expertise to join our team. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research to dissect the function of copy number alterations in cancer biology. The research team uses genome engineering approaches and functional studies in mouse models and clinical samples, which allows deep mechanistic insight in the role of large-scale chromosomal changes. The successful candidate will play a key role in co-leading the analysis of genomic DNA, single-cell and bulk RNA sequencing data across multiple projects involving mouse and human specimens, collaborating with other team members, with the possibility to also develop independent projects.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement robust pipelines for genomic and transcriptomic data processing
- Assist in the analysis and interpretation of results across diverse research projects
- Investigate and facilitate the integration of single-cell and bulk RNA-seq data with whole-genome sequencing (WGS) data
- Collaborate with team members to ensure high-quality, reproducible research outputs
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in bioinformatics, maths, biological sciences, or a related field
- At least one year of hands-on experience with genomics and/or single-cell RNA-seq and bulk RNA-seq data analysis
- Knowledge of genomics and transcriptomic analysis tools, and familiarity with other relevant pipelines
